What Causes Change?

Change is caused, in my humble opinion, when one way of being, acting, or living becomes either obsolete or is not fulfilling the required needs of a person or group. In social terms, you could liken this to the Confederate States of America. A short while after its conception, it no longer fulfilled the basic needs of its people, such as a national currency or a postal service. Because of this, the people changed it and ended up with the current system that we have now. In scientific terms, change is caused by necessity. Evolution is a good example of this. Say, for instance, that animal "a" always casually strolled up to animal "b" to kill it for a meal, but one day, animal "b" thought, "Hey, you know what, I'm getting sick of this!" and decided to run away. Now animal "a"'s method of obtaining food is obsolete, and it either changes or risks starving to death. After reading Mr. Voight's comments on my essay, I realized that another example of change by necessity would be global warming. There is a need to use more energy now, partly because there is simply more people, and partly because we have more gizmos. Due to this need, the earth has begun to warm. Now, to tie it all together, there is a need for us to change our energy habits so we don't decimate our climate/home. All in all, change is the action something takes as the result of something new being added to its enviroment.

Thanks with the links. Yah I think you should read Tor's about change being inevitable. Yours does make sense though I mean if you just think of the Romans and how their civilization had collapsed.

I really like your point on what causes change, if you think about it that example is in everyday life.

Your idea is really good. I've never really thought about change in that way but it makes sense. Like Luke's example of the Roman's civilization collapsing and your example of the confederacy.

Yeah, I do agree with that necessity thing. Without necessity, not much would happen. But how does the necessity come about? Because of changes in our surroundings, right? I think there's something missing. I do also think I am being a bit too critical.

By the way, how do you create links? I can't figger it out.

Troyboy, as for the link thing, I'm not sure how you do that. You should ask luk3v. Your other point is interesting. What seems to be missing?
