One quick comment...
Yes, I know I'm a little bit wordy, but I wanted to clear something up. I don't randomly search the internet for causes to become involved in. (I have a life..) Usually, I hear about it on the news, but recently I came across a book called 365 Ways to Change the World. The actions in this book can easily be completed in 1 day and cover a wide array of topics. This book is how I discovered the research on slave-cocoa. In case you're interested, you can go to the author, Michael Norton's, website: http://www.365act.com/ It has a new action every day! (And makes a great New Year's resolution)

So did you hear about the slave thing on the news or did you read it in the book. I was thinking that most people don't know about slaves being used to make something as awsome as chocolate. If it was on the news more people might start to boycott chocolate.
I found it on the author's website. You do have a good point about the need for increased awareness before anything is done about an issue. However, although the issue is important, there are other equally important issues which could take away air time. (along with some stupid stories...:)
