My Future

Hey all, I'm back! For this post, I was asked what I would like to do in the future, and it really got me thinking. Of course, I want to graduate high school and go onto college, though I don't know where yet. But after that I'm not so sure. I know that I never want to work in a little cubical, but beyond that it gets hazy. I also know that after college I want to join the Peace Corp, but in order to do that, you need a skill or trade. (you can't just say, "I want to help" you need to be a doctor, teacher, electrician, ect) I might end up becoming an english teacher and then teach english and sanitation in the Corp. I was also thinking of a career in Enviromental Law or as a enviromental advisor. The latter is someone who works for a company to make sure that all their practices are enviromentally sound. Science would really help me in the last two because I would need to know what in the world I was talking about when I advised the company or when I argued my case. I wouldn't use science as much in the Peace Corp, but I would need to know sanitation procedures as well as other basic science. My favorite activity is hanging out with my friends, and I assume that the people I meet in the Corp will be nice, so I can hang out with them. The way I see it, why spend my life putting money in someone else's pocket? I am lucky enough to have been born in the richest, most prosperous country on Earth! It would be wrong to not use these resources to help others. Basically, I want to help others. Cheesy, impractical, yes I know, but why not?

Marta, your bleeding heart continues to shine through. It is great to see a teenager talking about helping others and carry a global perspective on things. I know that no matter what you end up doing, you will be successful, I wish, of course, that you would turn the corner and come to my side!!!

yes, you are the type to help people even though it can waste your life. But thats cool that you would do it anyway.

If you want to help people that much, perhaps you should use your academic talents to gather up a sizable fortune. Then you could travel the world in your Peace Corp thing and help out communities in trouble. After you are satisfied with the help you've given, you could live comfortable and donate money to charity.

Good idea, huh?

I agree i don't want to work in a "cubical" either. WAnting to help others isn't cheesy. It's actually a really good trait to have because most future jobs have a people mingling requirement. What im trying to say are there are very few jobs that arn't helping people. And for most you need to communiate with people a great amount.

That sounds really interesting. I think the Peace Corps is good, helping people who aren't as fortunate is extremely important.

I think you would be a good teacher (athough you might get off topic often, jk). I think the peace corp would be a great idea for you. It's really cool that you seem to have such a passion about helping poeple.

I think the peace corp. would be a really good fit for you because you really care about the world, but you also have the skills to actually be of any use to them
